Charity Mission Foundation, is a Non-Government Organization that’s located in the slopes of Mt. Elgon, Godown village, Bunabala Parish, Sotti Sub-county, Bulambuli District, in the eastern region of Uganda. Our primary goal is to extend aid/help to the needy (orphans, elderly, disabled, and less privileged) in and around the communities of the sub-county.
As the organizational program(s), that we innovated back in 2018 but fell dormant due to some factors (mostly financial crisis), but since 2021 following the COVID 19 outbreak, we aimed and got much willing to support the communities by providing necessities like, clothing, food stuffs, agricultural tools following the fact that our communities are mostly based on farming for a living. We also would love provide health, educational, and infrastructural services as this is to be our secondary goal.
The sub-county comprises of 4 Parishes and 40 villages
There is an estimated number of 2549 households (HH), with an estimation summing up to a total population of 11500 residents in the whole sub-county.
Education is the way to acqire knowledge and improvemnet of skills in ant field according to the need. At Sotti Charity Mision, we believe it enables us to creat a fine balance of our body, mind and sipirit. It trains us whole life and brings many opportunities to get better prospects required for career growth. Education is our passport to the future, for tommorow belongs only to the people who prepare for it today.
At Sotti Charity Mission and all of us out there, we know children are God’s most attractive creation and a blessing to us all that is why we need to take a step and educate them regardless of their backgrounds, status, race or religion. Despite its importance, many children around the world lack access to qaulity education. This awakes due to factors such as poverty, location, and social status that often limit their opportunities. In addition, COVID 19 pandemic exacerbated existing inequalities, disrupting education systems and leaving millions of children behind.
At Sotti Charity Mision, we are commited t addressing these challenges head-on. Our mission is to provide inclussive, effeftive and sustainable education programs for children in need focussing on accessibility, quality and innovation of leverage technology, creative arta and play based learning to make education enggaging, interactive and fun.
Additionally, the improvement of the nation depends on the young generation learning. So young generation education should be achieved just if we all come together and champion the cause. It’s not only the role of the government but it’s our responsibilty to also educate children because education breeds CONFIDENCE - HOPE – PEACE. HEALTH AND NUTRITION:
Generally, Bulambuli District following it's geographical nature has had challenges in providing health to its netizens.
Among 26 Sub-counties in this district, our aim is SOTTI SUBCOUNTY which is one of a very hard to reach areas. Health in these communities is very poor to the fact that they don't have a health facility that's on standard (they only have a Health Center (HC) ii which is the lowest in the country's setting). The HC at this level only provides much of first aid, outpatient care and referrals of which the hospitals referred to are miles away from these communities.
Due to this, increase in diseases and higher mortality rates to hundreds in these communities and thousands in the district as a whole.
On nutrition, these communities hugely base on agriculture for food survival of which they grow crops of the same type and they most times is what they eat hence same and limited nutrient intake. The communities also have very poor water supply sources which lead to increase in more diseases.
So, We as SOTTI CHARITY MISION would love by God's grace to change the lives in these communities. And through your genuine support (donations, sponsorships, fundings) we can together fight diseases and hunger insecurities (by educating more about agriculture and food supply to the people living in these communities)
Almost half of the rural population live in poverty without reliable access to income as despite Uganda’s good soil and favourable weather, there are many barriers preventing poor farmers making the most of the country’s growing economy.
We help farmers find ways of earning a living that are suited to their natural environment, so they can improve their lives without damaging the natural resources they rely on.
Our activities aim to create a resilient rural Ugandan population by increasing access to farming inputs, finance, markets, and extension services. Our work serves the rural poor and enables them to fully participate in the social, cultural, and economic development of their communities.
We also support rural communities so they can have more of a voice in shaping the policies that affect their lives.
SOTTI CHARITY MISSION is an advocacy organization that exists to also coordinate collective action among women's rights and gender equality stakeholders for the attainment of gender equality and equity in Sotti Sub-county and the district at large.
Mothers are a wise steward of a home, time, and resources. and at Sotti Charity Mission we believe if we empower them they can bring out the best of their families more importantly children.
In SOTTI SUB-COUNTY, mother have face lots of challenges and these are believed to be happening elsewhere in the district, country, and world at larger some of which include;
Challenges faced by mothers
* Hardship to access medical services like family planning, attaining antenatal service because most health centers here handle minor health bad road/transport means.
* they face challenges to keep there daughters in school because of cultural norms and other school items.
* They face challenges in transporting their produce due to poor road systems so they improvise by using their backs to carry causing them to get back related illness.
* most of mother’s are not educated and widowed so they end up doing very hard causal work to earn food and other support for the children.
Following our regular visits and interactions with the local leaders and farmers of these areas, The communities of Sotti Sub-county face many challenges, including poverty, food insecurity, and a lack of basic services such as healthcare, education, and safe water. These challenges are generally in the whole district as well.
The vulnerable groups in Bulambuli, particularly children and women, face additional challenges. Children are at risk of malnutrition, disease, and poor education outcomes. Many girls are also at risk of early marriage and teenage pregnancy, while women face gender-based violence and limited economic opportunities.
In response to these challenges, SOTTI CHARITY MISSION was established to support vulnerable children, women at the communities in Bulambuli. The project aims to provide access to basic services such as healthcare, education, and safe water, as well as economic opportunities and support for survivors of gender-based violence.
Through partnerships with local organizations, the project also aims to strengthen the capacity of the community to respond to the needs of children and the vulnerable. This includes training and mentoring for community leaders, health workers, and educators, as well as support for local initiatives to improve the lives of vulnerable groups.
